Applying as a Distance Education Student

The University of Houston offers several exciting degree options through Distance Education.

Undergraduate students, who have earned an Associate's Degree or have completed a substantial number of credits, are welcome to view several of our degree completion programs available through Distance Education.

Graduate students are welcome to view our master's degree programs which can be completed from start to finish through Distance Education.

All students are welcome to take classes through Distance Education. No distinction between distance education and on-campus courses is made on transcripts, for more detailed information on the classes that are available through Distance Education visit the UH Distance Education page.

Transfer Students

Transfer students are incoming students who have completed 15 or more credit hours. For more detailed information on how to apply as a transfer student visit the UH Office of Admissions' Apply as a Transfer page.

Graduate Students

Graduate students are students who have completed a bachelor's degree and are seeking to earn a higher-level graduate degree. For more detailed information on how to apply as a graduate student visit the UH Graduate School's Admissions page.

International Students

International students are students who are on a nonimmigrant visa. For more detailed information on how to apply as an international student visit the UH Office of Admissions' Apply as an International Student page.

Freshman Students

Freshmen students are incoming students who have completed 14 or fewer credit hours. For more detailed information on how to apply as a freshman student visit the UH Office of Admissions' Apply as a Freshman page.

Additional Admission Types

Former UH Students

Former UH students are students who are either reapplying from suspension or reapplying after an interruption of at least four consecutive semesters or 13 consecutive months. Post-baccalaureate Students

Post-baccalaureate students are students who have completed the equivalent of a bachelor's degree prior to enrolling in UH. Post-baccalaureate students can take undergraduate courses, pursue a second degree, or meet the prerequisites needed for graduate majors. Summer Visiting Students

Summer Visiting Students are undergraduate students who have earned college credit at another regionally accredited U.S. college or university and plan to attend UH during the summer semester but plan on returning to their home university at the end of the semester. Adult Admission Option Program

The Adult Admission Option Program is designed to facilitate the admission of adult students. Eligible students may enroll in a non-degree status without submitting transcripts or test scores.
