Master of Education in Counseling (M.Ed.)

The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Counseling prepares counselors to assume entry-level, supervised positions in education and mental health settings, such as public schools, junior colleges, and university counseling and advisement centers, as well as some community mental health agencies.

This program emphasizes educational and developmental theory and interventions targeting well-functioning persons who are addressing short-term and/or situational problems. The program trains counselors to be providers of academic, career, relationship enhancement, and problem-solving counseling services.

Upon completion of the M.Ed. Degree in Counseling, many students choose to seek licensure as a Professional Counselor in the State of Texas.
