Working with your department
When you declare a major or enter a graduate degree program you become a student in the department and college offering your degree.
Faculty and staff in that department have final authority to determine your degree requirements and whether or not you have met them. You’ll need the help of an advisor in your department to create a degree plan (a written list of the courses you plan to take), to be approved for graduation when you finish, and to get other degree-related help.
At the same time you remain a distance education student, and we encourage you to contact distance education advisors whenever needed. They can clarify conflicting or confusing information, direct you to the right resources on campus, and sometimes serve as a liaison between you and your department.
