Choosing the right advisor
Advisors help you plan your course of study and obtain required approvals at certain milestones in your path toward graduation.
Different advisors fill different roles at the university and you can often save time by contacting the right one with your questions. Depending on your situation you may need to talk to more than one advisor.
Distance education advisors
- Address the particular needs of U.H. students who use distance education
- Provide basic information about degree programs that are accessible through distance education
- Direct students using distance education to other sources of help if needed
- Act as liaisons between you and your department if needed
- Provide unofficial transcript evaluation for students who wish to transfer to U.H.
Contact a distance education advisor when you need help with:
- Questions about distance education classes
- Selecting courses to fulfill university core requirements
- Deciding which other advisors on campus to consult
- Finding academic resources you need on campus
- Questions about gaining admission to U.H. as a transfer student (Prospective freshman should contact the admissions office with questions.)
- Unofficial evaluation of your transcripts for any previous college work you have done
